Went ahead and composited the opening together using the method of Render 2 from the previous post

Renders

So, just showing the progress of the renders. We're "commandeering" 4-5 computers nightly/daily at the labs to get this rendered out. I'm not sure why each frame is taking sooo long, but it is.

Above are two comps of the possible outcome utilizing the renders we have.

Lighting - first pass

So we have been animating for the past week and things are moving along =). Animation passes will be up very soon, but before that, Darren has been playing around with lighting and this is his first pass. Things are looking okay so far, will post more progress as things keep moving!

Just posted how the blend shape issue got resolved on CG Talk if anyone wants to look at it.
